About GetITechSkills

What this site is

GetITechSkills is a searchable library of entries about information technology. Each entry explains one idea, skill or kind of job in plain words: how a network sends data, what a variable is, why backups matter, what a help desk role involves.

The library has five areas: computing and networks, logic and programming, data and databases, security basics, and careers and skills. Each area holds nine entries, so the whole library is small enough to read in order.

Who it is for

• Adults who want to start in IT and need to know where to begin.
• People already in IT who want to fill a gap in the basics.
• Beginners who keep running into words they do not know and want a calm place to look them up.

What we focus on

We write about fundamentals that last. A tool or a version number can change next year, but the way an IP address works or the reason to test code changes slowly. When a tool matters, we name the idea behind it and send you to the official documentation for current details.

What we do not do

• We do not promise jobs, salaries or results.
• We do not invent experts, degrees, reviews or personal stories.
• We do not sell courses, certifications or training.
• We do not publish sponsored entries. Read the editorial policy for the full list of rules.

Who writes it

Every entry is published under the byline GetITechSkills Editorial. This is a team name, not a single person. You can see how we choose topics, check facts and fix mistakes on the editorial policy, methodology and corrections pages.
